October 2026: Ritual to start the off-season art making process

Sail Lofters Naomi Rush, Susan Bernstein, and Caitlin Dimino Tillman created a ritual for the group - everyone was asked to write on a notecard…what we intended to invite in for the off-season of art-making and what we intended to release for the same. The cards were folded and placed in the well of a ceramic table altar made by Susan Bernstein and covered with objects people brought in from their studios. Then people were asked to read a notecard aloud to the whole group. We reflected that many people shared the same wishes - to be less of a perfectionist, to go with the flow more, to make more time for art, and less for self-criticism.
